[Project]

For our second project, there are 2x Shooting & Editing exercise (Shooting: Group; Editing: Individual).

Project 2(a): Lalin

In Week 2's exercise, we have already done the editing for Lalin.

Then we had to do the colour correction for the final edited video for Lalin in this project. I referred to the tutorial video provided by Mr. Martin.

Project 2(b): Production Shoot (Trailer)

For the second part of the project, we were tasked with filming a trailer based on a short scene from Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Editing

After the shoot, I began editing the trailer in Premiere Pro. I reviewed all the footage first and trimmed the extra parts. Then I rearranged some scenes and added text motion graphics between them. I looked for sound effects on Pixabay, and finally, I colour graded the scenes to complete the trailer.

[Reflection]

Experience

Overall, this project was really fun. It was interesting to learn how to do colour correction / grading in Premiere Pro. I've always been curious about colour correction, but I had never actually done it on videos before, so this exercise was a great opportunity to finally try it out.

As for the production shoot, the whole process was super interesting. It was my first time being involved in an actual shoot, and I even played the role of the female actor for my group. I’m not a great actor, but I’m really grateful that my group members were patient and guided me throughout the filming. I'm amazed to see how many people work behind the scenes to make things run smoothly for a production shoot.

Observation

I realized that every role, whether it’s behind the camera or in front of it plays a huge part in the final outcome. Even something as small as lighting or framing can really change how a scene feels. Filming takes a lot more coordination and teamwork than I expected.

Findings

Colour correction doesn’t just make a video look “nice”. It sets the tone and mood of the whole scene. Also, working on a shoot gave me a new appreciation for the production process. There’s so much effort and detail that goes into even just a short duration video.
