Reflection

Experience

This module has been the most exciting one out of all the subjects I have this semester. At first I assumed it would be more difficult than Typography but I was wrong. Meticulous is a better word to describe it. I actually enjoyed the tasks in this module and despite my slow progress in my Task 3, which was my favourite. I tend to let ideas sit and marinate for too long which sometimes slows me down but I still found the whole process enjoyable and rewarding.

Observation

People often ask me if it is hard to study design. I always say no. This is how I feel towards this module. I genuinely enjoy learning design and designing, it’s just a lot of work and you have to constantly brainstorm and try different approaches until you find something you are satisfied with. I have noticed that trial and error plays a big part in the process especially when it comes to exploring type.

Findings

This module gave me a deeper understanding of typography beyond the basics. Typography alone can make or break a design so it is important to know how to choose pair and use typefaces properly. Advanced Typography has also inspired me to create more experimental typefaces of my own for my personal projects.

Thank You
