Illustration & Visual Narrative

Task 2: Composition (20%)

Week 4: Introduction

In this task, we were required to create a composition of Pokemon card, incorporating foreground midground, and background.

Week 5: Development & Process

Ideation

For this task, I decided to create a new character, instead of using the Vormator character I made in the previous task.

Here are some inspiration pictures that aligned with the vibe I'm going for the composition.

Mr Hafiz gave me some feedback, saying it’s a really good start and he can see the direction I'm heading in, especially with all the references I included. Sir suggested to look at some examples from the Framed Ink pdf in our Google Classroom to help make sure my composition clearly communicates my intention.

I did a new sketch while applying the composition rules from the Frame Ink pdf.

Week 6: Final Outcome

Fig. 7. Pokemon Card Version

Rue is a worn-out cat doll, who was once a Dream Weaver created to bring comfort by retelling and softening human’s bad dreams. Over years of absorbing sorrow, fear, and regret from those it protected, Rue became weighed down by the accumulated negativity it could no longer release. This constant exposure filled Rue with resentment, slowly transforming its comforting nature into something darker. Now cursed by its burden, Rue causes those who encounter it to relive twisted versions of their happiest memories, turning them into haunting nightmares. Triggered by fear or curiosity, Rue’s needle and thread symbolize its role in "weaving" these distorted memories into the subconscious.

[Reflection]

I learned so much more about composition through this task. The Framed Ink book was super helpful and guided me a lot in creating the composition.

Thank You
