My concept is inspired by the first moodboard picture, which I find really aesthetically pleasing. It also reminds me of the physical collage I created for the first DPI assignment, which happens to be my favorite piece from this course.

I ended up choosing Sketch #2 because I felt the first one was a bit too crowded with elements. I decided to simplify it while maintaining harmony. For the final design, the background will be black and white with added texture, while the circles will be in color. I also plan to vary the sizes of the cutout circles of my facial features and experiment with the background colors to add more variety and balance.

Bubbles of Life

My self-portrait revolves around the theme of bubbles, ordinary yet beautiful as they come and go. The round cutouts of my face in color move like floating bubbles, which symbolizes the harmony between fluidity and structure. This piece reflects my belief in going with the flow while finding balance and encourage us to embrace life’s fleeting yet meaningful moments.

[Reflection]

This assignment is really interesting because we get to create an animated self-portrait and express ourselves freely. I’m quite happy with how it turned out, and I also got to explore After Effects, which wasn’t as complicated as I thought. Of course, there’s still room for me to improve in both my skills and my work. I do wish I had planned my time better with all my final projects and assignments, as I would’ve loved to spend more time on this self-portrait, especially since I enjoyed creating collage-style posters.

Thank You
