Finalised Target User Group:
1. Street Police / Security Guards
2. F&B Vendors / Hawkers
2. F&B Vendors / Hawkers
During the meeting, we had a small confusion about the concept of user personas. We weren't entirely sure how was it done, so after the meeting I did my own further study in the MyTimes lectures and also consulted the Noodle Factory AI helper, which I find really helpful.
I also reached out to Dr. Wong for clarification and to check if my understanding is correct before I inform my group members.
Then I recorded a video for my group members to watch to clear up the confusions from the meeting held the night before.

Week 4: Empathy Phase - Preparing Interview Questions
- Refine/extract research infos (take out the main points)
- Come up with at least 1-2 (each person) User Research Interview Questions based on Street Police, Security Guards, Food Vendors / Hawkers
- Both above put in Figma W3 Individual Findings section first, then we'll move it to Contextual Research section once finalised
- Finalised the interview question in class & get it approved by Dr Wong
Another online meeting is held to discuss on how to conduct the User Interview and divide who is in charge of which user group.
By the end of the week, we finalised the User Research Interview Questions, including a translated Malay and Chinese version.
Week 5: Empathy Phase - Conduct Interview
This week, each group member conducted the User Research Interview according to their chosen user group. I interviewed a security guard below my residence.
W5 To-do List:
- Sticky Note Interview Findings: Extract interview data, analyse, put into sticky notes
- Contextual Research: Categorise research findings according to topics in the FigJam board
The weekly meeting was held at the end of the week after all group members completed their interviews. During the meeting, we discussed the next steps for the project, focusing on how to move forward with the Affinity Diagram and the overall empathy analysis process based on our interview findings.

Week 6: Empathy Phase - Finalising User Research Analysis & Task 1 Submission
This week's class was online, so we decided to have our weekly meeting physically during class time. Only 4 members (including myself) are able to come.
We finalized:
- User Research Interview Key Findings
- User Research Interview Insights
- 2 User Personas
- Problem Statements
- “How Might We” Questions
W6 Consultation Feedback:
Interview Findings - Remove the title on top of your sticky notes in Interview Findings
- 1 point (from your interview transcript) 1 sticky note
- Highlight main points (sticky note points)
- Put the interview transcript next to the sticky notes
Later this week, we held another online meeting to discuss potential proposed ideas that could address heat stress based on our Target Users.
I also listed down all the contents required for the Task 1's presentation slides, and also assigned each group member a specific section to work on.
Fig. 5. T1 Presentation Slide Sections
After everyone is done with their parts, I double-checked and finalised the slides for submission.
Week 7: Ideation & Feedback Integration
In Week 7's class, we did the Crazy 8s brainstorming activity, where everyone is required to sketch out 8 idea within 8 minutes.
We focused on finalizing our interview analysis and key findings. Based on the insights gathered, we developed user personas, problem statements, and “How Might We” questions to clearly define the main issues faced by our target users.
W7 Consultation Feedback:
- Create more POV statements on other factors/topics (in one sentence)
Week 8 & Week 9: Finalising Concept & Mid-Term Preparation
We mainly focused on finalizing the details of our proposed idea, a hydration and cooling rest service van concept, that is also part of a heat stress awareness campaign.
W8 & W9 To-do List:- Scan & put your Crazy 8 exercise into Week 7 individual parts
- Refine POV & HMW
- Detailed Proposed Idea
- Customer Journey Map (based on proposed idea)
- Client Presentation Slides (Use back Task 1's slide)
Week 10: Mid-term Presentation &
Feedback
- Scan & put your Crazy 8 exercise into Week 7 individual parts
- Refine POV & HMW
- Detailed Proposed Idea

Mid-term Presentation
Date: 19th November 2025 (Wednesday)
Time: 2:00pm - 3:30pm
Venue: E8.08
Presentation Duration: 20 minutes per group (10 minutes
presentation + 10 minutes Q&A)
Only 4 members were able to come for the mid-term presentation, the rest had classes that clashed with the presentation timing.
1. Kimberly
2. Ye YingYing
3. Nathan
4. Yong Sun Lu
Mid-term Presentation Feedback
- Dr Wong mentioned our flow of slides is clear, which is good
- Dr Wong & Dr Praveena mentioned our proposed idea (hydration mobile + awareness campaign) is good BUT the outdoor workers don’t have convenient access to water (hydration) is actually the company’s responsibility to provide it.
- Budgeting Issues: Dr Praveena asked us how will this project be funded. Making it a fully funded initiative is difficult + not sure if it can be done long term
- They said since we’re already going in this direction for our proposed idea, maybe we can brainstorm to turn it into something else (different direction)
- Suggested that we should focus on accessibility (refer insights slides), awareness point is not really suitable/aligning with our goal
Week 11 & Week 12: Refining Concept, Prototype Planning & Consultation
In these two weeks, we worked on finalising our concept and starting the prototypes.
W12 Consultation Feedback:
- Resting area with benches or seats
- Hydration options, such as water, energy drinks, electrolyte drinks, coconut water, and herbal drinks
- Cooling support, including disposable cooling towels and a portable fan borrowing or rental station
- Quick shower area with two cubicles
- Charging area for electronic devices
- Storage area, similar to small lockers
- Sink and hand sanitisation station
- Digital wellness display showing safety and health tips
- First aid kit
- Waste disposal bins
CoolStop
Brand Colour Palette:
Week 13: Prototype Update & Website Development
W13 Consultation Feedback:
- Dr Wong OK with everything so far
- Create prototype using Minecraft is OK, just make it nice and detailed
- She mentioned we can do a video walkthrough to show the users during testing phase to get their feedback
- She said we can just show every feature of the van in the video
- Remember, everything need to link back our goal and How might We (HMW)
- Using AI for visualisation is allowed but must mention
W13 To-do List:
- Finalise Van Sketch Details (Thur) - Komu & Singyee
- Minecraft Van Prototype (Fri) - Nathan & Yong

Final Presentation
Date: 30th December 2025 (Tuesday)
Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm
Venue: E7.15
Final Presentation Feedback:
- Presentation overall is okay, we did not receive much feedbacks or questions
- Dr Praveena suggested this idea can also be like a paid facility, where workers can pay a fee to use it each time
- Dr Wong mentioned this idea is also suitable to put it at beaches
- Dr Praveena mentioned the font size is a small for website
- Dr Praveena mentioned the colour palette is not really aesthetically pleasing
- Findings part could be better (refer to other group’s slides
The final presentation slides were due the very next day, so we refined our Findings part of the slides and submitted it right on the same day after the presentation.

[Reflection]
Experience
Overall, this module has allowed me to learn how to lead projects better. Although managing a group project was not easy, it taught me a lot about leadership and time management. I'm glad that our group managed to complete each part of the project on time. This project took more time compared to my other projects because it required research and careful consideration of many aspects.
Observation
Throughout the project, I realised that clear communication and proper planning were very important in keeping the group aligned. When expectations or tasks were unclear, progress slowed down. However, once roles were defined and discussions became more focused, the workflow became smoother and more efficient.
Findings
The entire design thinking process helped me understand how to develop solutions that are actually user-centred. There were many trial and error moments, which required us to stay open-minded, especially when designing a solution for a specific group of users.
Thank You
