[Project]

For our first project, we were required to select an existing website which we feel has several design and UX issue and prepare a detailed proposal for its redesign.

The objective is to  demonstrate our ability to critically evaluate a website’s design and functionality, and to propose design solutions that enhance user experience, aesthetics, and performance.

The website I have chosen is https://woomami.xyz/services

[Reflection]

Experience

Overall, this project felt quite straightforward, especially since we had already done similar work in Exercises 1 and 2. This was like a more detailed extension of those tasks. I enjoyed that we were given the freedom to choose a website we’re familiar with, as it made the process more personal and engaging. Reimagining an existing site and thinking of ways to bring more life and function to it was a fun and satisfying experience.

Observation

Having a well-designed website is just as important as having a functional one. Thoughtful design not only supports usability but also enhances the overall experience, which makes the site more engaging for visitors to browse through. A visually appealing and well-structured website can even help attract new customers to the cafe.

Findings

This project helped me notice how important consistency is, especially when trying to represent a brand’s personality online. It also made me more aware of the decisions behind why certain design choices work better than others, like how placement and flow can guide users naturally. I learned to observe websites more critically, not just in terms of appearance but also how they communicate and function as a whole. In other words, redesigning the site gave me a chance to apply what I’ve learned so far and think about how to improve something that already exists, which is a different skill compared to designing from scratch.
